On February 21st, 2008, Champ Car World Series and IRL (Indy Racing League) close a deal to unify the two series. A statement was issued in Chicago (USA) confirming that an agreement had been reached between Champ Car (Gerald Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven) and the IRL (Tony George) chiefs.

The deal brings to an end more than 10 years of rivalry between the two North American single-seater series.
