The experienced pilot signed up with the RCM team and is set to have a winning season. The 2009 Brazilian Stock Car season will have the return of one more prestigious pilot with Formula One experience in his career. Enrique Bernoldi (Cerveja Colônia), former Arrows Team pilot, confirmed his participation in this season*s opening race next Sunday (march 29th) in Interlagos (SP). After one season racing for the Conquest Indy Car Series Team, the 30 years old pilot will drive for the RCM Team. His new team is coordinated by the experienced Rosinei Campos or Meinha, who has lead his team to conquer three of the five past seasons - 2004 with Giuliano Losacco, and 2006 and 2007 with Cacá Bueno. I*m happy to be back to the Brazilian Stock Car scene, said Bernoldi, who raced the 2007 season for the Action Power Team. Along with Ricardo Zonta, Luciano Burti, Chico Serra and Antonio Pizzonia, Bernoldi will make-up the list of Stock Car pilots who have Formula One experience in their careers. I really believe in the category. I*ve been through some situations in which I wasn*t really happy in the past but now I*m very pleased in having Meinha*s support, said Bernoldi, who will have Valdeno Brito as his team mate. Bernoldi had two days for testing the new equipment during the past week. The cars are more modern and resemble the prestigious DTM (German Touring Championship) cars. They were developed by the engineers Nicola Scimsa and Gustavo Letho, from JL, the company responsible for the bodywork on the Copa Nextel Stock Car. I liked the results achieved during the Tuesday and Wednesday training sessions. The car improved a lot and the expectations for Sunday*s race are really positive, concluded the pilot who has two third positions, in Santa Cruz do Sul and Brasília, as his best Stock Car results. |
